For Sale: Skip Kelley A-5 - $1,800 USD
This is #25 from Skip Kelley. I believe it was was built in 2009, and it has aged nicely over the last 5 years. It sounds old. Like all of Mr. Kelley's mandolins, the tone is very well developed. It is deep, dry, and woody. It's one of the woodiest mandolins I have ever heard. Robust, clear chop all the way up the neck, and it's light as a feather.
The top is Adirondack with curly maple back and rim. The finish is varnish, and it is fully bound in tortoise. There is some honest play wear, with some pinky and pick marks here and there, but no cracks or issues whatsoever. It has a "speed" neck with low action. The frets are clean and the ebony board is flat. It has an engraved, traditional tailpiece, with a fleur-de-lis peghead inlay. It lives in an arched top, black TKL case.
Skip's new A-5's are selling for around $2800 right now. Why not save yourself 1000 bucks, and buy this one for $1800 including PayPal, shipping, and insurance to the Lower 48?
Email for more pictures or information. Thanks.

For Sale: Gibson 1924 A2Z - £3,000 GBP ($5,047.22 USD)
For sale this beautiful 1924 Gibson "Snakehead" A2Z ( 1924 Lloyd Loar era ) Mandolin
This is a rare chance to purchase one of the finest oval hole models to come out of the Gibson factory. The A2Z model was a limited edition , made using the best woods and specifications Gibson had at the time ," it had everything from A to Z". It is considered the " Holy Grail " among Celtic and Old Time players , with its sound and rarity. It was "born" in the zenith of Gibson's mandolin production under the auspices of the legendary Lloyd Loar , who brought to Gibson that special something that make mandolins from this period so special.
This mandolin has everything you would expect from such a pedigree , a great sound , volume , tone and playability. There are no cracks , sinkage , or structural issues and the neck is as straight as a die. The tuners have been changed at some point and sympathetic "Elite " brand tuners fitted. It has the normal pick wear you would expect from an instrument this age and there is some slight buckle rash on the rear , a common problem with instruments from this era.
The serial number is 78971 and the batch number is 11919 . The instrument is stamped internally A2- , the Z missing , again a common issue where the stamp was not fully depressed.
The A2Z model is a rare item this side of the Atlantic , as there was limited production of this model between 1923 and 1924. So this is your chance to own a piece of mandolin history , a great financial investment and to play one of the best mandolins Gibson built.
I have a very good satisfaction record on EBay with the instruments I have sold in the past and this should be no exception( ebay name mandolier2008) The mandolin will be posted with Royal Mail 48 , please contact me should you wish to upgrade the insurance . International buyers should contact me for a shipping quote.
Any questions please feel free to ask as I am a mandolin player and lover and always willing to talk mandolins

For Sale: Upgraded Pac-Rim F-style $425 - $450 USD
This is a solid top-sides-back (maple and spruce) carved F-style Mandolin (Savannah 200F) that I picked up to learn on. My guitar teacher has found a 'lifeftime' mando for me so this one has to go. The previous owner had a Collings cast tailpiece installed, a bone nut, Gotoh tuners (all hardware gold), and a rosewood veneer for the peghead (cosmetics only - he wanted to add mystery by covering up the Savannah inlay; this isn't to cover a repaired crack etc). He also had the luthier rub out the gloss finish and 'distress' parts of the front, and neck to further obscure the identity of the mando. I installed a new Cumberland Acoustics bridge (what a difference!) and set the mando up for flatwound strings (DA 74's - great for your pinky on those long-reach chop chords). The neck is flat, and the action is in the low-medium range with lot's of range left in the bridge height adjusters. i also play a top-end banjo and guitar and am a stickler for a good setup (nut action, neck relief, intonation) and this mando has a decent setup and is ready to go. Great for some one new to the mando (you won't be fighting a bad setup) or for someone who wants one for camping at festivals. I can set it up for J74's if you want. Includes an Eastman-style zippered oblong case. I'll throw in a leather strap and a Snark SN-8 tuner. Solid, good playing mando with all the typical setup issues for mandos in this price range addressed. I'll take it back if it isn't what I've said it is here.
